Melbourne is full of this one type of tree that has peeling bark. I’m not sure the name of them and I don’t feel like Googling it but I see that they make up the majority of the trees here.
I went to a park yesterday and saw this tree that I’m just going to nickname the love tree. It had names and hearts all up and down it; so many inscriptions I couldn’t even count. It was really interesting because you could tell some names were carved so deep that even after the bark peeled off the names were still visible on the next layer. There were even a few areas where it looked like the tree had healed itself. The carvings looked like they had been stitched up.
One particular inscription was so cute it (almost) made me well up inside. The names suggest they were an aboriginal couple.
